I tried installing phpMyAdmin 2.8.2.4 on my XP home workstation. I had previously installed PHP, MySQL and Apache 1.3 — they were all in working order. After extacting the archive to my root folder, I opened up a new browser window and typed in localhost/phpMyAdmin. Tada! “Cannot load mysql extension. Please check PHP Configuration” I’ve done this more than a hundred times already, what could have gone wrong this time?

Anyhow, to make things simpler, I reinstalled Php and Mysql and then switched to a lower version of phpMyAdmin (ver. 2.7.0-pl2). No errors there! I’ll try to install the newer version in a few weeks, after I get some work done.
