Cars Running on Alternative Fuel
February 22nd, 2007Future, Musings, Technology.
I usually use tech that I have personally bought for about 4-6 years.
- My first (manual) typerwritter is still around somewhere at home.
- My first PC, a 1st generation Compaq presario and a 486 at that. Desktop computers were around USD 2-3K. Yikes!
- 2nd PC: I decided to disposed of it when it became too slow to run VB. Grrr Micro$oft!
- 3rd PC: It also crumbled when it was overrun with M$ applications
I currently have 2 laptops, one from work and one for real work! The slower one is a Celeron M 370 with 512 RAM, while the other is a Centrino with 1GB RAM. The latter might last for about 5 more years. Mobile phones have also lasted me almost the same amount. I change one every 3-4 years though mostly because of the wear and tear.
I’m still at the planning/saving stage of getting a car and at this rate, I do hope it lasts me a decade. I hope that when i do buy a car, its one of those energy efficient models. Alternative fuels have been running some new cargo ships and other water crafts, so why can’t we run our cars with it? I’ve seen LPG cabs around Metro Manila, but their proliferation is limited by the number of refuelling stations.
