Bisita Iglesia, Full moon, and the Easter dates
April 6th, 2007Life, Musings, Today in History.
Just got back from Bisita Iglesia. Visited six churches in the Pasig City area and one in San Juan, Greenhills–I lost track of the names and sequence of churches we went to, but I will ask one friend who was with us and who was navigator for the trip. It was almost the full moon and we saw a lot of people walking to Antipolo.
Walking to Antipolo is tradition during the Holy Week. Some eve walk barefoot. Note: Antipolo is some 12-15 kilometers from where I live and by that time, there is already a build-up of the walking crowd. My boss who lives along the same route to the Antipolo Church says that traffic crawls to a halt around 5-6 kilometers away from the church especially as time approaches midnight.
Many local residents know about this fact, but the Fr. Achacoso, the priest who gave the homily, mentioned that Easter will always fall on the full moon dates. Okay, now this was something different and also something I’ve never noticed. So a quick search gave me this site: How Easter Date is Determined. There was a lot of stuff on that page and its not something I’d like to digest this late, or rather this early.
