My university email is slow and sometime even unavailable because of the sheer number of students, imagine 80,000 students spread over 7 geographically distant locations and 1 virtual education system. Mind you, those 80,000 students are only in my batch. what about those who’ve graduated and still keep their university emails and those in other batches. Imagine just 10,000 simultaneous users on an archaic system.

I don’t actually use my campus email. I have one as a requirement for online enrollment, but I rarely even open it. With my corporate email and my own site, I think I have enough space and addresses. I use my Gmail accounts mostly for big files and for transferring content from one PC to another if I don’t have a flash disk with me.

Google recently posted in their blog that they wanted feedback on how effective university-provided email is. However, reading on, I saw that it was for “university students nationwide.” Google = US, US universities and US students. Hm…

When will they go worldwide?
