My ringtone advocates our local tourism. I point them to the local government-run site that features events and festivities in the different provinces and regions. It looks fun and entertaining, even if it is maintained by a government agency. It covers the whole Philippines and tries to cover each city/region, but some of the links are just templates sans the actual contents.

Compare it with a US site that covers only San Diego restaurants. Check it out. a bit more comprehensive, but also effective. I do suggest that the local tourism office, asks the different cities here to do the same–create mini sites for each city and then just link up to a bigger site.

They could even have contest for the best design, most updated, etc. and news can also be posted on each small site. I looked up the city where I live and under ‘Things to Do and see in …..’ there was nothing. Now, don’t tell me that–I know of a lot of exciting events and places in my city, but then again they (the government) may have a different qualification for ‘Things to Do and see.’

Overall, the San Diego site presents a more comprehensive list of information since it has a rating system for pricing of restaurants so I don’t walk into one and not have enough for a decent meal and I can find places near a certain neighborhood. It also has a map so that I can do my own exploring by looking for the restaurants.
