UP: Lost Snail
May 17th, 2007Musings, Rants, School, University of the Philippines.
Got my grades yesterday via snail mail. Boy, did that snail get lost or something. Those were grades from my first semester, subjects I have completed over half a year ago. Did second semester already and will be enrolling for my second year.
I didn’t notice if there was a postal mark on the paper. Yes, it was just a piece of a computerized continuous form. Just stapled close and folded so that the recipient’s address would be seen. In my undergrad days, the envelopes would be nice and crisp and there would be updates on what has been going on in the university included in that mail. We would even receive a Christmas card during the years I was enrolled there.
Anyway, Mom and Dad were taking a look at my grades and Dad commented on why it wasn’t his name on the paper. Mom said, it’d get lost in transit and in translation. Mom has an ordinary English sounding name and Dad has, well, his native Chinese name. ‘nuf said.

Well, UP isn’t all that bad. Hey you guys out there! Mind you: as soon as Weng finishes that Master’s, her market value will really shoot up! That’s the value of a UP education (despite the odds).
