I just got my Smart Gold bill the other day and it included an insert for Airborne Access that said:

SMART Gold individual subscribers can now avail of unlimited WiFi connections through Airborne Access for as low as P99 per month charged to their SMART Gold Bill.

Register from May 3 to July 2, 2007 and enjoy unlimited WiFi for only P99 per month until October 2, 2007 and P199 per month from October 3 to December 31, 2007.

Nice. I have already used Airborne Access on several occasions, but find that surfing using Smart 3G’s Php10 / 30mins more effective. Although I haven’t used it a moving car, finding a signal in a cafe or any location in Metro Manila is as simple as turning on your phone. Since, I also lug around my laptop when I know I’ll be stuck in the mall/cafe for a while, it’s also simpler to bringing along my phone’s data cable.

So, that’s at least 3 months for Php 99 and the rest for Php 199. Not bad, compared to Php 100/hour for a regular card.

It’s a local Philippine service, a tie-up between a telco and the provider for Starbucks’ WiFi.
