One of my regular readers, Mrs. Flipphead, has tagged me in one of her posts.

Here’s the generic part of the post:

  1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
  2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
  3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
  4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
  5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Fact 1: I’ve never been to China or any of its territories.

Most people associate my Chinese surname with being a frequent visitor to the land of my ancestors. Nope, never been there. Don’t know when I’ll go, but it’s not in any of my immediate plans.

Fact 2: I’m an only kid.

Perhaps the regular readers have noticed by now that none of the posts ever refer to brothers or sisters.

Fact 3: My family has a penchant for having an odd number of kids.

My Mom has eight siblings, Dad has two. On Mom’s side, I’ve got a cousin who’s an only kid too, two aunts have three kids each, and an uncle has three kids. On Dad’s side, I think my uncle has three kids.

Fact 4: I went through the nursery level thrice!

I started with the neighborhood daycare center. Can’t remember if it was Mom or Dad’s idea to transfer me to a Montessori school. Off I went and they told my parents I was too young for kindergarten. Back to nursery I went. Then they wanted me to study in a Chinese school. Again, they told me I was too young to get into their kindergarten program.

They say third time’s the charm. I stayed there until I graduated high school. I graduated at the same age as most of my classmates—and they thought I was too young. I could have graduated younger!

Fact 5: As a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up.

However, with the lack of a NASA-like organization here in the Philippines and my disinterest in a purely science course, it wasn’t as realistic as I thought, so I stuck to a course that taught using sciences, but had practical business applications. I took up IT instead—it’s still a bachelor’s in science course, mind you!

Fact 5: As a kid, I read the Bible for recreation.

Not the whole length of it, but most of the stories in the old testament are familiar to me. Back then, I never thought of it, then, as a religious book, but more of a historical book sans the wars. Jonah’s story was Pinocchio-like, Daniel and the Lions was also page-turning, and the story of Ruth was like something out of a fairy tale.

Fact 6: I am a very forgetful person.

If I meet you through a common friend and meet you again after a few months, I would have totally forgotten your name and that I’ve met you before. You might look familiar to me, but other than that, I draw a complete blank. This fact really needs an additional post. ;)

Fact 7: I read books for kids, young adults, and even Harry Potter.

I enjoyed reading books many years ago and I still enjoy doing so today. Today, it is more of a stress reliever and a step back from all the technology (this coming from someone who reads a ton of ebooks ;) ). It is also a topic of conversation between my younger cousins, my nieces and nephews, and for this blog. hehehe.

Fact 8: I know how to crochet.

Yes, granny stuff. It did seem interesting at that time and no, grandma didn’t force me to learn how to do so. It was my own initiative. I wanted to know how they made all those doilies that were under the phones in the 1980’s. They had doilies everywhere during those days. In the kitchen as place mats, in the living room under glass displays, and even as a replacement for a tablecloth!

This was a challenging post. I might write some longer posts on each of the facts if and when I find the time to do so. I’m tagging some random visitors on my site and a few friends.

Really interesting post! My family has a penchant for having kids in a certain order. Boy, Girl, Girl, Girl, Boy. My mom, my sister, my aunt, my brother, my uncle. Except both my sis and bro stopped before completing the set.

I also know how to crochet. Mom taught me. We had all of those crocheted doilies everywhere too!

Harry Potter! Can’t wait for the final chapter. I have had it preordered since I bought the last one. If only I could remember where I preordered it…Amazon, Borders or Waldenbooks? Hmmm…
