I’ve been really busy at work, double-timing even, to reach my deadlines. Seems like I even have to do some homework at times. Good thing, UP isn’t dumping assignments yet. Point is, in college, we used to have so many more things to do than now, but we still managed to scrape things together and finish whatever homework there was—even if it meant a couple of all-nighters. Why does it seem a lot harder to finish things now? We’re at work for more or less 7-12 hours a day, an hour or two for the commute and traffic, and about 8 hours for sleep. We then have the remaining 2 hours for whatever else we need to do.
Would it be the additional work, wasting time, or simple time management problems and inefficiency? During my college finals week, we cram studying and finishing projects without batting an eye. Now, we balk at the additional work load even if we know it is the equivalent of our bread and butter. In college, we weren’t paid to finish stuff (except for our weekly/monthly allowance), our parents even paid for our education ensuring that we had a continuous supply of homework all throughout our teenage years and into our early twenties. In the process, we have learned more skills, and today, more technology is here to help us making colloborative work easier than ever. Do we become more inefficient as we grow older? I hope not.
I need four pairs of hands, how about you?
